Being born in one of the roughest parts of Nar Shadda, you either grow up tough, or you don’t grow up at all. With his family getting killed around the time he entered puberty, life was always a fight for survival. He had to go through a lot, and that includes picking up different identities from a very young age, sometimes to escape hunters, sometimes to become the hunter. With the very few people he called friends during his early years not living to see their 20’s, there was no one left to know his real name, a situation he never really cared to remedy, leaving him being known mainly as The Man With No Name, or simply No’name Man.. However, some of the best slicers in the galaxy have sometimes speculated his true name to be William/Bill, never being able to prove or at least reach any point of certainty.
Being a true genius in both improvising and figuring out the way that leads to the best paycheck, not only did he manage to leave Nar Shaddaa but he soon became the best and most seeked (and hunted) Hired Gun in the galaxy. Playing chess when others are playing checkers, he can outmaneuver any troubling situation, always ending up on top. And richer. Sometimes playing both sides, eventually destroying both of them and then emerging victorious. His motives might seem to be mainly financial –not that getting rich after growing up starving is not a goal for him- but he always has a deeper goal in mind. Not really revealing it to anybody until it is achieved.
His tough upbringing didn’t only turn him into an unstoppable mercenary, it also honed his character. Never killing anyone he didn’t feel he deserved, no matter the price and almost always finding a way to assist those in need while getting paid for a job. At some point, he stopped being the lone wolf, picking up a crew, not really to survive, he could manage that on his own, but because of falling for someone he met along his travels, another orphan of Nar Shaddaa, Mako.
